Man assaulted with baseball bat in Amesbury

Wiltshire Police are looking for any witnesses to the incident.

We're told the assault happened at around 4.40pm on October 8th, but the details have only just been released.

A man in his 20s was walking along the footpath between Holders Road and Jaggard View when he was attacked by another man.

They used a baseball bat to hit him several times, leaving the victim with cuts and bruises.

Police believe a suspect then left the scene in a car.

ARREST MADE

A man in his 20s from Amesbury has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent in connection with what happened.

He's been released on conditional bail while enquiries are carried out.

Police are now looking for any further information from witnesses - particularly a child that's believed to have approached the victim afterwards to ask if they were OK.

Officers want to hear from the parents of that child, or anyone else that can help with their enquiries.
