Man seriously injured in assault in Wiltshire village

Police have arrested a man in connection with the incident

One man was taken to hospital and another suffered minor injures after an assault in Market Lavington on Salisbury Plain.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident which took place in the early hours of November 16th.

The force said at around ten past midnight two men and a women were walking from the Royal Oak, Easterton towards Market Lavington when they were approached by a third man in a car.

The vehicle then left and the trio took the back route via the Grove Road estate on to The Spring near Lavington Lane.

The driver then approached again and got out of the car, and an altercation took place..

One man in his 40s suffered grievous bodily harm level injuries and was taken to hospital.

Another man in his 20s suffered minor injuries.

The driver has then driven off.

A suspect in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

He has been released under investigation.

A spokesperson for the force said;

"We are appealing for any potential witnesses to come forward, and to ask residents near The Spring to check any doorbell or CCTV footage at around 00.11am on November 16.

We’re also requesting any dashcam footage from people travelling through the village at around that time.
