Tributes have been paid to Nobel Peace Prize laureate Archbishop Desmond Tutu, who was made a sarum canon of Salisbury cathedral, following his death aged 90.

Tutu, who helped end apartheid in South Africa, was announced to have died on Boxing Day (Sunday 26th December).

Nick Papadopoulos took to Twitter to share his tribute to Tutu after his visit to Salisbury in June 2008.

Archbishop Desmond Tutu delivered a sermon in Salisbury Cathedral and was present for the city's arts festival.

The theme of the three day weekend event was peace.
