A total of 231 patients have now died at Salisbury District Hospital after testing positive for Covid-19.

The latest is a man in his 90's, with underlying health conditions, who died there today (Monday 13th December.)

It is the first Coronavirus death of the week.

The Trust is urging everyone to get vaccinated against Covid-19, saying it is never too late to get a first.

A Spokesperson from Salisbury District Hospital said:

"Sadly, we can confirm that a patient who had been cared for at Salisbury District Hospital and had tested positive for COVID-19 died on Monday 13th December. The patient was in his 90s and had underlying health conditions. Our thoughts and condolences are with the patient’s family and loved ones at this very difficult and distressing time.

"231 patients in total have now passed away at Salisbury District Hospital, within 28 days of a positive COVID-19 test. There are currently 19 COVID-19 positive patients being treated at the hospital.

"We would ask the public to remain cautious and to take appropriate precautions to avoid transmission, such as mask wearing in crowded places and good hand hygiene. In addition, people should take up the invitation for a COVID-19 vaccine when offered."
