A woman from Amesbury has been banned from the roads for a year after being found five and a half times over the drug drive limit.

Sabrina Holvey, 25, was stopped on Hudson Road last October after an officer received information that she was driving under the influence of cannabis.

When she was pulled over, she was on the school run with her five year old child in the front seat.

Holvey admitted that she’d used cannabis the previous evening and a drugs wipe confirmed cannabis was present in her saliva.

A later blood test showed there were 11 micrograms of cannabis per litre of blood in her system.

The accepted limit to allow for accidental exposure is 2 micrograms per litre.

The 25 year old pleaded guilty and was banned from driving for 12 months, fined £120 and had to pay court costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £34.

PC Michael Tryhorn from Wiltshire’s Roads Policing Unit said:

“It was pretty shocking to find the offender was on the school run with a five-year-old child in the front seat when I pulled her over. I just hope this acts as a wake up call as the consequences could have been worse.

“There’s been an increase in drug driving nationally and we are taking every step possible to make sure our roads in Wiltshire are safe”
