A two-year old boy in Amesbury has been left 'terrified of everything' after a man tried to kidnap him from his home.

Reece Jolliffe, 28, has been sentenced to two years imprisonment at Salisbury Crown Court for attempted kidnap.

The boy's mother told the court Jolliffe's actions had “completely ruined” her family and left her child “absolutely terrified of everything”.

Jolliffe had been drinking heavily at a pub before he entered the family's home though an unlocked door around 4am on 2nd September 2023.

The mother awoke to find the 28-year-old at the end of her bed with her son in his arms.

When he noticed, Jolliffe dropped the child and escaped from the house.

He was arrested shortly afterwards by Police.

During his interview, Jolliffe claimed he couldn't remember what happened after he leaving the pub.

Jolliffe was given an immediate two-year custodial sentence and a 10-year restraining order was imposed to prevent him from contacting the victim’s family and attending their home address.
