Lyubomir Tomov, of Lancelot Way in Amesbury, has been found guilty of driving whilst over the prescribed limit of alcohol.

The 34 year old has been banned from driving for a year and has been fined ÂŁ800.

Tomov was spotted by police on Boscombe Road in the town on the 30th November 2019 when they saw his Audi A8 overtake another vehicle into oncoming traffic.

He was stopped by officers on Great Amber Way and admitted to having consumed alcohol before driving.

He then gave a positive reading at the road side and was arrested.

PC Pete Simmonds said:

"Driving whilst under the influence of alcohol not only shows a complete disregard for the law but also is incredibly dangerous for fellow road users.

Not only was Tomov under the influence of alcohol but his manner of driving was a cause for concern and was why we stopped the vehicle.

Drink driving is one of the fatal four reasons that increases the chances of a collision ending in a serious injury or worse, a fatality.

We are fully committed to ensuring our roads are kept safe and urge drivers to never take the risk of getting behind the wheel of a vehicle after having a drink, the results could be catastrophic."

The force are now urging people to call 101 when they suspect someone is drink driving, or 999 if they believe a crime is being committed and someone is already behind the wheel.
