Amesbury Fire Station is opening its doors to us today (Saturday 31st August) for an open day to raise funds for the Fire Fighters Charity.

The open day has twice been postponed owing to the untimely deaths of two firefighters in the days before each proposed open day.

The day will run from 10am and 3pm.

Blaze Bear will be making an appearance alongside real fire demonstrations, including hot oil fires while children's activities include a colouring competition, firefighter dress up and hose squirting.

We'll also have the chance to buy something from the Fire Service Store.

While the event is free, donations and sales will help boost the Fire Fighters Charity.

Station Manager Warren Hathaway said: “This is a great way for the Amesbury community to find out more about its local fire station and what we do.

"We’d love to see people of all ages come along and spend the day enjoying the demonstrations, activities, perhaps an ice cream or two, and hopefully leave with some essential fire safety knowledge!

"You will also have the chance to speak to the crews about working for Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service.”
