charity in Amesbury is struggling to keep up with the ever growing number of kittens and cats which need help.

Cat Watch Rescue Shelter, set up less than two years ago, has almost 80 kittens in its care and over 30 adult cats.

Many are feral and are caught by Marnie Buckland and her team of volunteers whilst others are abandoned or unwanted domestic pets.

Marnie believes lockdown has played a key role, firstly with the 'craze for kittens' and difficulty getting pets neutered or spayed.

"I think with the lockdown people weren't getting their pets neutered as vets weren't doing it because it wasn't an emergency so we are now seeing the repercussions from that."

Marnie has six purpose built shelters at her home in Amesbury to look after the cats but she also relies on fosterers.

With so many pets in her care bills are mounting.

"We have about two thousand pounds in our bank account but we will have a vet's bill for two thousand four hundred"

She's appealing for funds to help support her work which includes helping find missing pets well as volunteers to help run the charity.

The charity also has a wish list on Amazon.

Loving homes are also needed for the animals in her careCa you can find out more on the Cat Watch Rescue Shelter website.
