Walkers are being called upon to take on a marathon length route around South Wiltshire for the Alzheimer's Society later this year.

The charity's holding its Trek26 event once again on Saturday 2nd September.

It's a 26 mile route from Hudson's Field in Salisbury, into the city centre and past the Cathedral, across the water meadows, woodland and ridges, to the Stonehenge World Heritage site and back again.

Could you take on a marathon length trek to support those with dementia?

There's also a shorter 13 mile option, starting in Great Wishford, getting views of Stonehenge and making your way to Old Sarum.

The money raised through the event will go towards research into dementia illnesses.

Across the country, 900,000 people are living with a dementia condition, including 2,500 in Wiltshire alone.

The event offers some incredible views in the South Wiltshire countryside

The charity say:

"Alzheimer’s Society supports people affected by dementia through some of the hardest and most frightening time. We provide hope by joining forces with people affected by dementia, leading scientists and policy makers to push for cutting edge breakthroughs and change that’ll improve the lives of people affected by dementia, now and in the future.

"It is only with the generous help of supporters that Alzheimer’s Society can carry out its vital work to be there for those who need it most."

We can now sign up for the Trek26 Stonehenge event, through the charity's website. |newtab)
