Alabaré calling on brave souls to take on Firewalk
Could you walk on hot coals at Old Sarum Garden Centre?
A Salisbury homelessness charity has reopened registrations for people to walk on hot coals to support those living on the streets.
Alabaré is hosting a Firewalk at their Old Sarum Garden Centre on Friday 1st December.
The money raised through entries and sponsonships of people taking part will go towards the charity's work with homeless and vulnerable people across South Wiltshire and the South West.
The Firewalk is open to anyone over the age of 16, and each is asked to raise at least £100 in sponsorship.
On the night, firewalkers will receive training, before their attempt over coals which can reach temperatures of over 500 degrees Celsius!
The charity's calling it a chance to 'do something a bit different in the run up to Christmas'.
The event was scheduled to take place last month, but was called off due to Storm Babet - allowing Alabaré time to encourage more brave supporters to take part.
Previous firewalk participant Claire said:
“I am really glad that I took part in the Alabaré Firewalk. I was pretty nervous, but there was a great team spirit, we all felt determined to go through with it. We could all feel the intense heat coming off the coals as we waited for our turn, but Cliff had provided us each with excellent training and so I was excited to do my walk and see how it felt. It was fantastic and I’m so happy that I can say that I’ve done it!”
