Homelessness charity Alabaré is urging rough sleepers not to spend Christmas Day alone this year.

Naomi Webb, Head of Homelessness at Alabaré, told us that their drop-in services will provide a welcoming space ensuring no one feels alone during the holidays.

The charity's Comfort Zone in Chippenham and Alabaré Place in Salisbury will host drop-in facilities on Christmas Day, offering hot meals, activities, and community spirit.

It's been made possible thanks to the kindness of others, who've donated food and gifts for the charity to help break the cycle of homelessness this Christmas.

Naomi said: "We’re offering a full Christmas lunch with turkey and all the trimmings, surrounded by crackers and a communal setting," Webb said.

“The day will start in the morning with festivities such as watching Christmas films with snacks. At midday, staff on duty will prepare the hot dinner with locally donated turkeys and other food.

“Thanks to generous contributions from the community, we’ll also be providing gifts to ensure everyone is seen, welcomed, and feels they belong to the Alabaré family."

Call for those experiencing rough sleeping

Naomi urged anyone experiencing rough sleeping to join them, saying that with Christmas season shining a light on friends, family and a sense of belonging, it can be tough for people who are homeless. But she's urging them not to spend it alone.

“If you’re out on the streets, don’t be alone this Christmas. Come and be part of our community at Alabaré. Our team and guests are here to support you.”

Alabaré’s facilities will remain open throughout the festive season, bridging the gap while many other support services are closed.
