A 71-year-old man is in hospital with life threatening injuries after a light aircraft came down in Durrington.

Salisbury Police were called to the scene just before 7 o'clock on Sunday night (25 May).

Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance attended the incident and airlifted the adult male patient to Southampton Hospital.

He was treated by a doctor and specialist practitioner in critical care, from the air ambulance team, both of whom specialise in pre-hospital emergency medicine.

A statement from a Police spokesperson said: "A 71-year-old man is in hospital with life threatening injuries following a light aircraft crash in Durrington.

Officers were called to a field in Milston just before 7pm (Sunday) as part of a multi-agency response."

An investigation's now going to be carried out into what happened by the Air Accident Investigation Team.
