Plans for more affordable homes in Ludgershall
Wiltshire Council has put in a planning application for Old Common Way
More affordable homes could be on the way for Ludgershall, as a planning application's submitted by Wiltshire Council.
The authority wants to put 18 properties on land at Old Common Way, on the site of the former Bartlett House care home.
The plans include dedicated parking for each home, along with visitor spaces and cycle parking.
There'd also be solar panels on the south facing roof, and top grade insulation and heat source pumps, to make the homes more energy efficient.
The development would have properties ranging from one bedroom flats to four bedroom houses, for rent and shared ownership, and would be managed by Wiltshire Council themselves.
It's part of the authority's plans to deliver 1,000 affordable homes across the county over the next decade, to ease demand on the housing register.
Cllr Phil Alford, Wiltshire Council Cabinet Member for Housing, said:
“We’re pleased to have submitted this planning application. Our commitment to delivering 1,000 houses over a decade will ensure there are a variety of affordable homes throughout the county for people, meeting a key commitment of our Business Plan.
“Should planning permission be granted, these houses would provide lovely homes to residents who really need them.
“I encourage people to look at all the details of the planning application as all representations received will be considered as part of Wiltshire Council’s usual planning application process.”
The planning application is available to view on the Wiltshire Council website.
