Driver clocked at motorway speeds in New Forest
Police describe motorist as an 'accident waiting to happen'
Last updated 20th Nov 2020
Police have caught a driver speeding at more than 70 mph across one of the New Forest's most notorious roads.
Officers pulled the motorist over early on Thursday morning, 19 Nov 2020 doing 71 mph on a dark road where the limit is 40 mph!
They were caught on the B3078 Roger Penny Way between Godshill and Bramshaw. That stretch of road is known for its roaming animals, and having one of the highest rates of collisions with ponies, livestock, and fatalities in the National Park.
Animals are on the forest roads day and night, and thankfully on this occasion the Police were there too.
The driver is now facing court.
Hampshire Police have again repeated the usual safety message, SLOW DOWN - it's 40 mph for a reason, you are not the only one on the road and have also shared several hashtags on social media including #KillYourSpeed and #add3minutes
