Wiltshire Council will begin roadworks on a major route into Amesbury from tonight (Monday 14th February).

They'll be working between the Winterslow Road junction and the White Railings roundabout (Stockport Road) overnight on weeknights until next Wednesday (23rd February).

The stretch will closed from 7.00pm to 6.00am each night, but no work will be carried out over the weekend.

The red section of the road is where the work's taking place, with Amesbury just to the north of the area pictured

We're told the road is being resurfaced, with new white lines painted.

DIVERSION ROUTE

The official diversion route to avoid the work would see drivers take Winterslow Road to the A338 up to Cholderton; joining the A303 to Countess roundabout and coming through Amesbury town centre back to Stockport Road.

Local knowledge may mean other routes could be quicker for journey times.

We're also told the works are weather dependent, which could affect the number of nights the road is closed for.
