Overnight closures on A338 at Tidworth
It's the final bits of work around the Hampshire Cross turning
There's been roadworks on that section of the A338 for quite a while now, as part of the Army Rebasing Programme, but we're told this is the last bit of disruption.
Work is being carried out to 'complete the junction layouts between the Esso garage and the Hampshire Cross' turning for The Ram pub.
That will include some overnight closures to allow for the road to be resurfaced and for white lines to be painted.
The first closure is planned for tonight (Thursday 3rd December) from 8.00pm until 6.00am tomorrow (Friday 4th December).
More closures are planned for next week too from Monday 7th December until the morning of Friday 11th December.
They'll be in place between 8.00pm and 6.00am each night.
HOW WILL IT AFFECT OUR JOURNEYS?
The road will closed from the St Andrews Road/Pennings Road junction, through to the Ram turning.
There'll be no vehicle access onto the A338 from Ordnance Road, Meerut Road, Lahore Road, St Andrews Road or Station Road.
Access will be maintained to the Lidl supermarket from the Hampshire Cross direction, and we'll still be able to get to the Esso garage forecourt throughout.
An official diversion route has been put in place:
After the road closures, there'll also be work on the same stretch between Sunday 13th and Friday 18th December, to allow of new traffic lights at the Meerut Road junction with Pennings Road and at the Hampshire Cross.
There'll be temporary traffic signals in place during the day while they're installed.
