Overnight closures will begin on the A303 at Winterbourne Stoke tonight (Monday 31st March) while National Highways carry out resurfacing work.

They'll be closing a three mile stretch from Longbarrow roundabout through to the start of the dual carriageway, west of Winterbourne Stoke.

It'll be in effect from 8.00pm until 6.00am on weeknights only, through until May 2nd.

There'll be a pause over the Easter weekend (17th to 21st April), and a full weekend closure from 9.00pm on Friday 25th April to 6.00am on Monday 28th - between Longbarrow and the Deptford interchange.

Diversions in place

A diversion route will be set up throughout - taking light vehicles going eastbound onto the A36 to Wilton and back up the A360.

For HGVs going eastbound, they'll be asked to go through Chitterne and Shrewton on the B390.

The official diversion routes have to use major roads, but other shorter alternatives might be available with local knowledge

Access for local traffic will be maintained.

Project Manager Tracey Matthews said: “The work follows carriageway improvement work to the east of Longbarrow roundabout earlier in the year.

“The resurfacing scheme will ultimately bring benefits for local residents and the travelling public and, although we appreciate roadworks can be frustrating, we’re keeping the closures to an absolute minimum and we thank all drivers in advance for their co-operation and patience while we carry out these essential works.”
