Man dies in crash on A303 at Thruxton Down
The collision happened just before 9.30am today (Friday 1st December)
A man's died in a crash on the A303 near Thruxton Down.
Hampshire Police tell us a collision occurred between a red Mini Cooper and a lorry at around 9.24am today (Friday 1st December).
The driver of the Mini, who's in his 40s and from Kingsdon in Somerset, passed away at the scene.
The road has been closed in both directions for much of the day - the eastbound carriageway reopened just after 4.00pm this afternoon.
South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWAFST) have deployed two land ambulances and an air ambulance to the scene.
A SWAFST spokesperson said:
“We were called at 09.28hrs on Friday 01 December to a road traffic incident on the A303 near Thruxton Down.
"We sent two double-crewed land ambulances, an air ambulance and a responding officer.”
The westbound carriageway is expected to remain closed into this evening.
There's now an appeal from Hampshire Police for anyone with information into the collision:
