'Traffic nightmare': Why a Salisbury road remains shut for another week

It's caused problems on the roads already

A main road into Salisbury is currently closed, and remains so for another week, and is causing traffic issues.

The part of the A360 Devizes Road from its junction with Ramleaze Drive to its junction with St Pauls Roundabout shut on Monday (9th May) between 7am and 6pm, and will be closed every weekday until the 18th May.

It's to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out carriageway resurfacing, patching works, road marking, adjustment of ironworks and associated works.

The closure notice says:

"This Order which previously came into operation on 10 January 2022 will now recommence on 09 May 2022 and the closure will be required between the hours of 07:00 and 18:00 until 18 May 2022. It is anticipated that the works will take the stated duration to complete depending upon weather conditions. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses where possible, although delays are likely due to the nature of the works."

The suggested alternative route is via the A36 and The Avenue.

On Monday (9th May), emergency work was also carried out by SSE to restore power to many homes in the area.

This meant roadworks were installed on Wilton Road, on the diversion route.

Those have now been removed.
