An 83 year old man has been assaulted during an attempted robbery while waiting at a bus stop in Salisbury.
On Saturday (18th December) at approximately 7pm, the man had been waiting on Endless Street when two unknown men have approached him.
One man has attempted to grab his rucksack and grabbed the victim's arm with such force it caused bleeding.
When the victim has resisted, the suspect has kicked his legs out from underneath him, causing him to fall to the ground and bang his head.
The two men have walked off towards Salt Lane, but the man managed to keep hold of his bag.
The victim described one of the suspects as being in his 50s, with dark hair, a large build and a round face. He was wearing all dark clothing.
A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said:
“Whilst this incident occurred during the evening, this is a busy street with businesses and through traffic, so we’d like to hear from anyone who may have information that could assist our enquiries.
“Fortunately, the man was not badly injured and he was able to keep hold of his bag, but was understandably shaken by the incident.
“This type of behaviour will not be tolerated and we are carrying out CCTV enquiries and supporting the victim.”
Anyone who may have witnessed this incident or been in the area at the time and have dashcam footage or CCTV that could assist officers with their enquiries is asked to call police on 101 and quote reference number 54210123407.
