7 year old girl dies following collision in Wiltshire

A young cyclist has died following a collision with a heavy goods vehicle in Church Street in Collingbourne Ducis.

Emergency services were called to the A338 just before 6.30pm yesterday.

A 7 year old girl was taken to Salisbury District Hospital but sadly died a short time later.

Wiltshire Police say her family are being supported by specially-trained officers and "our thoughts are with them at this incredibly difficult time."

The incident took place on Church Street, Collingbourne Ducis

The driver of the HGV remained at the scene and no arrests have been made.

A section of road was closed for around eight-and-a-half hours to allow collision investigation work to take place.

Anyone who witnessed the collision, or anyone who may have dash cam footage which could assist our enquiries, is urged call Wiltshire Police's Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting log 225 of yesterday (Tuesday 13th July).
