On June 16th, Hughes was stopped on Exeter Street in Salisbury just after 11pm.

He failed a road-side test and was then taken to custody to be charged with driving a vehicle over the legal limit.

He has now been handed a 12 month driving ban, fined £150 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge and costs.

PC Jamie Boyland said:

"I can't stress enough how dangerous it is to get behind the wheel of a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

It is one of the fatal four factors that lead to the increased chance that a road traffic collision will result in serious injury or worse, a fatality.

It is simply unacceptable and as highlighted by this week's road safety campaign, will not be tolerated.

We will continue to strive to ensure the roads of Wiltshire are as safe as possible."

If you suspect anyone is driving under the influence, you are being asked to contact police immediately in emergencies on 999, or on 101.
