2026 Stars Appeal trek location revealed
It helps support projects across Salisbury District Hospital
The Stars Appeal has revealed it's next trekking challenge location.
The charity, which supports Salisbury District Hospital, is calling local adventures to help raise funds for the hospital on a trek in foothills of the Indian Himalayas in 2026.
It follows 2024''s trek to Colombia's Lost City of Teyuna, which raised over £80,000.
The next event takes place in April 2026 and trekkers will be making their way to Dalai Lama Mountain.
Walkers will spend five days winding their way up steep hill paths, reaching altitudes 3,200m, sleeping in mountainside campsites whilst taking in breath-taking scenery including the Dhaula Dhar White Mountains and Kangra valley.
Jo Maslen, Volunteer Challenge Manager for the Stars Appeal, Salisbury Hospital’s Charity said: “Our treks bring together people of all ages and backgrounds, including hospital consultants and midwives, 80-year-olds and twenty somethings. It’s so inspiring to see everyone step way out of their comfort zones to take on some of the toughest challenges in support of our Hospital.
“The money the trekkers raise will enable the Stars Appeal to do even more for patients, their families and staff across the hospital by funding state-of-the-art equipment, enhancements to buildings, and ongoing projects including Stars Appeal Wi-Fi, emergency patient clothing and wellbeing support for patients with cancer.”
Trekkers are asked to raise a minimum of £2,000 to support various projects across the hospital.
There's a trek information evening on Wednesday 9th October where those interested can find out about the trek, the challenges, training and fundraising and hear from previous trekkers, Stars Appeal representatives and experts from Discover Adventure, the adventure challenge company organising the trek.
Questions can be asked and it will be possible to sign up on the night.
As well as this year's trek to Colombia, previous treks have seen Stars Appeal supporters tackle desert trails to Petra and the altitudes of Machu Picchu as well as the Great Wall of China and Grand Canyon.
