A would-be burglar who was caught in the act thanks to a video doorbell has been given a ten month jail sentence.

29 year old Poitr Rybicki's attempt to rob a home at The Glen at Fletton in Peterborough on the 14th of March was foiled when the owner's video doorbell sent him a notification.

After viewing the footage, he called the police who arrived and detained Rybicki after he'd tried to break through a windowpane with his shoulder than a brick.

Rybicki - of no fixed abode - was sentenced to 10 months in jail after pleading guilty to attempted burglary with intent to steal.

DC Joshua Crown, who investigated, said: "Being the victim of a burglary, or attempted burglary, can leave people feeling extremely vulnerable and scared in their own home.

"I am pleased we managed to put Rybicki before the courts for this brazen act."
