Whirlpool workers in Peterborough to strike in dispute over pay
The Unite union ses its members will walk out on more than 20 days between May 5th and early June
White goods maker Whirlpool is facing a series of strikes in a dispute over pay.
The Unite union said its members at the domestic appliance company's parts factory in Peterborough will walk out on more than 20 days between May 5 and early June after voting overwhelmingly in favour of industrial action.
The union said Whirlpool had offered workers a pay increase of 5% backdated to October 2022, adding that it was effectively overtaken by the national minimum wage increase which came into effect on April 1.
"With no further offer being made, the company is now effectively offering a 1p-an-hour pay increase," said a spokesman.
