15 week old Wilson becomes new pastoral pup for students
Stamford Endowed schools has welcomed their newest recruit.
A 15 week old Cocker Spaniel, has joined the pastoral program at Stamford Endowed Schools.
Wilson is currently living between his staff handlers whilst he's introduced to his new surroundings.
He will slowly be introduced to children and staff when they can return; but for now he's also working remotely, having taken part in his first online puppy training sessions.
Wilson will work as the school's wellbeing dog to support students pastorally.
The school says "research has shown that wellbeing dogs have a positive effect on student mental health; students can easily empathise with animals in ways that aren’t always as easy with peers or teachers, helping to develop their emotional wellbeing. Dogs have been shown to have a soothing presence within a school environment, and to provide an uplifting experience which helps all of the Schools’ community feel more relaxed, confident and able to cope and adapt to challenges."
