Volunteers wanted for Rutland vaccine rollout

Volunteers are vital to the winter rollout plan

Author: Chris TatePublished 23rd Sep 2021

The NHS is looking for volunteers to help with their winter vaccine rollout as the NHS plan to give booster jabs to those who need them.

500 people are needed to help carry out winter vaccinations at the 25 centres in Rutland and Leicestershire.

Over 2,500 local people have volunteered since the vaccination programme began at the end of 2020, however these numbers have slowly decreased as volunteers move on due to other commitments.

The volunteers will fill the roles of greeters, stewards and chaperones for patients who have arrived to get their vaccines.

Stewarding experience is welcome but training is provided for everyone.

All over-18s can volunteer and you can sign up by contacting Voluntary Action Leicestershire. Get in touch on 0116 257 5050, or by email on helpline@valonline.org.uk.
