Ian Stygall from The Deepings Community Leisure Centre Community Interest Company (CIC) says this funding will help go along way to getting it up and running again.

"Before the closure, Deepings Leisure Centre was the second most profitable centre in the district, and we will make it so again, without a shadow of a doubt" said Ian.

He added: "I'm confident with the hard work and effort we as the CIC, for Deeping have put in, will make it somewhere sustainable for people to use in the coming years.

"There will always be those that think negative., there will always be 99 ways to not achieve something, it's finding the one way to make things happen and that's what we're trying to do.

The grant now has to be approved by Lincolnshire County Council.

Ian said the group is "confident" they can show their plans will work.

"What we're trying to do is think outside the box, and use innovative ways and cost saving ways to run the building.

"This is something the SK Leisure have never tried to achieve because it meant investing in the business, and they've never had the facilities or money to do that."
