There are calls across Peterborough to embrace the idea of banning disposable vapes - including from a vape shop owner himself.

At the moment, ministers are said to be drawing up plans to stop single-use e-cigarettes being sold in shops for good.

This comes after a report suggests disposable vapes should be banned to help protect children.

This potential move has been welcomed by Shaun Wedgewood - the Technical Director from Phoenix Vapers in Peterborough.

Shaun tells us why he supports the ban:

"I'm a bit nervous for any blanket bans but in the big picture, I think that getting rid of the disposables is probably good for the industry and will reduce the amount of children that can get their hands on the vapes.

"I don't think its going to negatively effect us; I think we'll be able to transition our customer base away from the disposables and onto the more sustainable vapes.

"You're throwing a battery away everyday, there's loads of packaging, you can't walk down the high street without seeing disposable vapes littered over the place.

"In the pocket, its worse for the consumer to keep buying these things at 2-3 pound a pop rather than getting a device for 12-15 pounds, buying the liquid and filling it yourself - that's a lot cheaper."
