A Rutland man rowing 3,000 miles solo across the Atlantic Ocean is receiving a heartfelt message from his partner this Valentines Day.

Andrew Osborne is nearly at the halfway point of his 90 day mission rowing to Antigua, but has already raised over ÂŁ110,000 for the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young.

Andrew training at Rutland Water, before embarking on his mission in memory of his late daughter Amy, who tragically passed away six years ago.

His partner, Sallyanne Brooksbank, has been tracking his progress ever since he set off from Gran Canaria last month.

She says she checks in with him via satellite phone at least twice a week:

'He's had so many highs, in terms of sunsets and incredible dolphin sightings. He had flying fish leaping onto his boat last week, which he said was incredible. He said the stars were astonishing.'

She added: 'When I spoke to him not so long ago he did ask me what day it was. He has no comprehension of days and dates so, I don't think valentines day is going to feature when he's mid-Atlantic.'

'Over the airwaves, I would like to say to Andrew: Just keep going, get there safely and we'll all be there waiting for you. We're going to have the biggest party in Antigua.'
