Uppingham woman 'shocked and excited' to be invited to Coronation
It's not the first time she's been recognised by royalty
A woman from Uppingham, who was recognised by the late Queen, says she was "shocked" when she opened her invite to the Coronation.
Margaret Simpson is one of just a few thousand guests that will be there to witness the historic event in-person - including heads of state, former PMs, foreign royals, Government minsters and members of the royal family.
Margaret was named on the Queen's Birthday Honours List in 2020, and given a British Empire Medal (BEM) for her efforts supporting some of the most vulnerable in her community during COVID-19.
Now, she says she's honoured to be heading to the capital for the Coronation - but she's unsure what to wear:
"I'm excited because it's getting very close. Some of the timings are a bit weird, we have to be in the centre of London for 7am in the morning. They've closed two of the tube stations which would've made life easier."
She added: "'It was totally out of the blue, but I'm very honoured - obviously. I've just read the label on my hat and it says don't wear in the rain, so I hope the weather's good."
