Ukraine: MP Alicia Kearns calls for 'cyber strikes' if Russia fails to back down
The Rutland & Melton MP has been with speaking with Greatest Hits Radio.
Rutland and Melton's MP has called for 'cyber strikes' against Russia, if Putin refuses deescalate his military incursion into Ukraine.
The Prime Minister’s revealed more than 100 new sanctions following Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine - including an asset freeze on all major Russian banks.
The Kremlin sent its forces in by land, sea and air overnight.
MP Alicia Kearns, who's a member of the Foreign Affairs Select Committee, spoke with us earlier:
"This morning my worst feats were confirmed, and those of many of my friends in Ukraine."
"What we need now is a sharp, definite and strong response that's focused on economic strikes, that go to the heart of Putin's concerns, and that is protecting his wealth and protecting his corruption."
Oil prices have also jumped and motorists are being warned that'll have an effect at the pumps.
"There is no question that what's taking place in Ukraine will impact on our country, whether it be oil and gas prices, or whether it be the price of bread, because Ukraine is the wheat basket of Europe."
"However it is absolutely right that we stand against bloodshed, and that we stand against a war of our values.
"If we don't see any change in his Putin's behaviour, we could be and should be considering cyber strikes - and in a very short period of time, as we don't have much longer left"
