Cambridgeshire Police say two women have been left with serious injuries following a dog attack in March.

Officers were called to the scene in Papworth Street yesterday morning around 10:45pm, where a mixed breed dog had injured the women, and a man who interevened.

They were taken to Peterborough City Hospital to be treated for their injuries, whilst the man didn't require hospital treatment.

The women's bite injuries are described as serious but not life-threatening.

Police seized the dog, which is not believed to be covered by the dangerous dog legislation, and has since been put down.

The breed is not clear but is thought to be mixed.

An appeal for witnesses and footage is underway.
