Two men deny murdering teenager in Peterborough
The defendants are set to go on trial in April 2025, charged with murdering Ben Proctor, 19, in September
Two men have denied murdering a teenager in Peterborough.
Ako Mohammed, 33, of Lincoln Road, and Shwan Sabah, 23, of Holdich Street, both pleaded not guilty to the murder of 19-year-old Ben Proctor, who collapsed at a car compound in Wellington Street on 16th September.
Ben, from Peterborough, suffered a head injury and was pronounced dead shortly after midnight on 17th September.
Cambridgeshire Police were called to the scene at 11:48 pm, and despite efforts to save him, he was declared dead at 12:36 am.
The defendants appeared in court and entered not guilty pleas. A pre-trial review is scheduled for 21st March 2025, with the trial due to begin on 14th April 2025.
Tributes
Following Ben's death, friends paid tribute to him on social media.
One person said: "I’m in shock! I knew Ben I spent years in St.john ambulance Cadets with him, he was the kindest soul and had the biggest heart! Growing up with you was such an honour, my friend"
Another, said: "So horrible to see this to Ben I know him from college a lovely caring man"
Somebody else added: "His face is gonna be missed down the woods on a Sunday! Rest easy buddy"
A police investigation continues.
