Tributes made to the Dowager, Duchess of Rutland, who has died aged 86

Tributes are continuing to made to the Dowager, Duchess of Rutland - who passed away at the weekend aged 86.

Frances Helen Manners (née Sweeny) married the 10th Duke of Rutland, Charles Manners, in 1958.

They were married for 41 years until his death in 1999.

The couple have four children together.

In a statement online Belvoir Castle, where the Duchess passed away, said: ""Our condolences to the Manners family in this time of sorrow."

A post from her granddaughter, Violet Manners, described the Duchess as loyal and devoted "to the local community and beyond.

She was the only daughter of Margaret Campbell, Duchess of Argyll, and Charles Sweeny.

Their marriage, and divorce, was the subject of much media attention.

Following the death of Charles Manner, Frances was known as the Dowager Duchess of Rutland.
