Tourism "picking up nicely" in Rutland following April restrictions easing
The county's tourism board says it wants more people to discover how much there is here.
The director of Rutland's tourist board has said tourism in the county is "picking up nicely", following the easing of lockdown restrictions in April.
With travel to other outdoor places allowed from the 12 April, Discover Rutland saw visits to their website increase by 70%.
Outdoor attractions were also allowed to reopen as part of the second stage of the roadmap out of lockdown.
Ben Jones, from Discover Rutland, said: "Businesses offering outside activities and outdoor space have managed to bounce back really well since the lifting of restrictions in April.
"Many of our members have reported great enthusiasm from their customers and guests, and seeing a lot more families heading out.
"There's so much to do in this county, and we really want more people to discover it. We think we're as good as - if not better than - the Cotswolds, and just as beautiful as the Lake District. That's what we're trying to encourage people to discover."
