A voluntary organisation in Oakham say they've been left 'speechless' after winning a Queen's Award earlier this week.

The Rutland Rotaract family support centre have been recognised after over twenty years of service across the county.

They've been supporting children and young people in Oakham with special educational needs and disabilities during that time.

One of the Trustees there is Kate Pickering she says: " it's very surreal to us all to be honest with you. It's obviously nothing that we set out to achieve but it's such a great honour. I think it's left most of us speechless"

she continues: "we're all very passionate about what we do and many of us have been involved with the family centre for quite a number of years. It's a huge accolade and it's the icing on the cake - what more could we ask for"
