The Georgian festival in Stamford has been cancelled. The event was due to take place in September.

However, organisers South Kesteven District Council say due to the ongoing uncertainties around capacity and what the coronavirus rules will be in 3 months time they felt there could be difficulties holding it.

Councillor Rosemary Trollope-Bellew, Cabinet Member for Culture and Visitor Economy at South Kesteven District Council, said: “Traditionally, much of the success of this Festival is in those special events and activities that make the experience so memorable for visitors – carriage rides, dances in the Arts Centre Ballroom, and the myriad workshops and community programmes that bring people together."

“Along with promoters of events across the country, it has been very challenging to plan and promote the Festival with the level of confidence needed to ensure its usual success.

“We take this decision with a heavy heart and believe it is the most appropriate course of action at this time.”
