Over 10,000 people in Rutland have already had their first covid jab, it means the area is on target with the vaccine rollout. With a quarter of the residents already been given their first dose.

The government’s plans to ease lock-down measures has been welcomed by Rutland County Council.

Leader Oliver Hemsley says the community has worked together very well through these difficult times:

"it's been tough and people have wanted to go and see loved ones but they haven't . We've done our bit and we'll continue to do it - but it's good to see that we'll be able to meet other people outside again soon"

He continues "Having been a business man myself for 39 years I can feel the pinch, and I talk to local businesses and some have carried on and found a way and others have really found it quite hard"
