Suspected illegal migrants seen leaving lorry on A1 north of Stamford

Police are looking for anybody with information

Police are appealing for information after a group of suspected illegal migrants were seen being dropped off by a lorry on the A1, just north of Stamford.

Officers were called to the northbound carriageway near North Witham, Lincolnshire at around 2.15pm on Wednesday after an off-duty officer spotted a group of people leaving the vehicle.

The group stayed by the roadside after disembarking and police arrived at the scene.

Officers have since been carrying out extra patrols in the area.

Five men and five women, all believed to be young adults, have been arrested on suspicion of entering the UK illegally.

Police are now appealing for dashcam footage or witnesses who may help them identify the lorry or driver.
