Students in Peterborough, Stamford and Rutland join others in getting their A level results
It's thought there will be more Uni places available
Students across Peterborough Stamford and Rutland will join others across the country in getting their A level results today..
The number of clearing places at top universities has actually risen to almost four-thousand.
More pupils than in previous years can expect to be admitted to their first choice Uni, even if their grades are well below what they'd hoped for.
We've spoken to Ross Renton is principal at Anglia Ruskin University in Peterborough.
He told us it's vital not to panic if students don't get the results that they were hoping for .
Don't rush into a decision but take the time - get advice
He says:“Speak to the university you’ve applied to, and ask them about opportunities and options you have with them."
"If you want to look at other universities then there will be activities going on across the country."
"These things are really important, not to rush into a decision but to take the time, get the advice and we are here to help you.”
“Clearing is an opportunity for those who may have not got the results or have changed their mind about the course."
"What you do, you look online and see which universities are offering the course you would like to do."
The thing to do is not to panic
"Speak to the universities and what you will find is we will invite them in as well, any student we invite them in to have a look around.”
“First of all congratulations, not matter what results you got - it’s a big achievement."
"The thing to do is not to panic, and I know the initial thing if you didn’t quite get what you needed can be a concern, but take your time, there are lots of opportunities and options available to you.”
“If that course is available next year then you will be able to automatically start that."
"What I would say is that if you are wanting to go into a particular work field, then if you’re going to take a year out then try and find something that lends itself well to that particular career"
"Try and get some work experience, that would put you in a really good place for when you do start the course.”
