People living in Stretton frustrated by sod filled verge.
The side of Stocken Hall Road has deep furrows which are filled with turf and soil.
People living nearby have voiced their frustration that a verge on Stocken Hall Road in Stretton has been filled in with sod – turf like ground with soil growing on top.
Residents fear this could turn into potentially dangerous mud when it rains.
Kevin Hawkes wrote to Rutland MP Alicia Kearns (Cons) to complain at the lack of attention being given to sort out the problem.
Mrs Kearns replied: ““Thank you for taking the time to contact me. I am sorry to read of your frustrations with Stocken Hall Road.
“Sadly, road issues fall outside of the remit of a Member of Parliament, as roads are the responsibility of Leicestershire County Council.”
She encouraged him to contact his local councillor Nick Begy.
Cllr Begy said: “I have been made aware of the problem with the verge at Stocken Hall Road and I did receive the photographs taken by Mr Hawkes.
“I am currently in contact with highways to find out when a remedy can be put in place, but I want to reassure residents that the matter is in hand.”
Cllr Begy (Ind) is vice chairman of Rutland County Council and the leader of the Together4Rutland Group representing Greetham ward.
He also sits on the planning and licensing committee and the strategic overview and scrutiny committee.
