Storm Eunice is continuing to cause disruption across Stamford and Rutland as an amber weather warning remains in place.

The Met Office has warned of gusts of up to 100 mph as the storm passes over the region until 9pm tonight.

As a result of the wind and rain, recycling centres at Cottesmore and Morcott have been shut in the interest of public safety.

In addition, Rutland Water has also closed to the public for safety concerns, asking those who were planning a trip to "postpone for another day".

Shops and some schools have also chosen to shut their doors in order to protect people from the effects of Storm Eunice.

However, fallen trees are continuing to cause travel disruption, with delays across the area, including the A6003 between Oakham and Uppingham.

Train services in Rutland and surrounding areas are also disrupted as a result of the storm, with Network Rail suspending all services through Lincolnshire.

However, the local community in Rutland is trying to clear roads in order to help keep roads clear, including the use of tree surgeons to move fallen trees.

Emergency services are continuing to advise against leaving the house during the period of alert, unless for emergency reasons.

A statement from Leicestershire Police told residents in the area to "minimise travel where possible" ahead of likely travel disruption.
