The deputy head academic at Stamford High School, who's running the London Marathon this weekend, has raised over £10,000 for a hospice in memory of his wife.

Sam McCormick is fundraising for Sue Ryder's Thorpe Hospice, who cared for his wife Hannah before she died of cervical cancer in January.

"Hannah was the kind of person everyone wanted to be friends with. Kind, thoughtful, organised(!) she was the person others turned to for comfort or advice because she lifted people up and made them into the best versions of themselves. In short, Hannah made the world a better place."

"In January my darling wife Hannah passed away from cancer. At the very moment our lives were being turned upside down, Sue Ryder at Thorpe Hall were there for us. The team supported our whole family through the most difficult time of our lives."

Sam says training for the event has been no easy task, especially with two young children.

He'll be joining tens of thousands of people on startline this Sunday.
