Stamford man "shocked" to receive letter of thanks signed by Ukrainian army colonel
Dan Zenchuk has been sending supplies to and raising money for Ukraine since the start of the war
A man from Stamford says receiving a personal letter from the Ukrainian army is the "greatest thing anyone could ever give" him.
Dan Zenchuk, who was born to Ukrainian parents in Peterborough, received the letter as a personal thanks from a Ukrainian Colonel for his amazing show of support.
Dan's been raising money for and sending supplies to the Ukrainian people and military, via sponsored walks, charity football matches and by sending trucks full of essential items.
In total, he's raised just under £50,000 and sent 27 separate lorries full of aid.
Recognition in the middle of a war
Dan told Greatest Hits Radio: 'For me it's probably one of the biggest achievements that I've ever had I don't think much can top that, which probably sounds strange to many but for me to get something like that from Ukraine and from a Colonel in Kyiv, whilst they're still very much in the midst of fighting in this war - it's amazing.'
'It will take pride of place in my new office when I move house next month, it will be the first thing going up on the wall - really really proud moment.'
'I'm still in shock to receive something after all these months from the guys in Ukraine, knowing how busy they are and what more important things they've got going on right now.'
'It was a real surprise to receive that letter when it arrived, ironically it turned up as we were loading yet another lorry full of aid items to go out to Ukraine, so we're still very much continuing the aid operation.'
