People in Stamford and Rutland are being reminded by pharmacy staff to not skip out on using sun cream as we approach the summer months.

Some of us have been cutting down on all unnecessary spending and saving where we can, after the cost of living took another hit recently - now at its worst in 40 years.

Bethan Lambie, from Rutland Late Night pharmacy, says sun cream shouldn't be considered a luxury to save on:

'We don't recommend skipping sun cream at all, obviously the side effects of getting burnt will leave you very sore, but more serious, down the line in years to come that can lead to skin cancer - so we always, always recommend putting some kind of protection on your skin.'

'Even on cloudy days sun lotion should still be applied', Bethan says.

'Do your research, look around. The larger supermarkets tend to have offers on sun lotion, anything above 15 SPF is always what we recommend', she added.

Public sun cream facilities in Oakham?

Last week news emerged that a man from Essex had installed public sun cream dispensers for people to use that might be feeling the squeeze of the cost of living.

Oakham's own pharmacy technician, Bethan, thinks it's a great idea that should be employed in Stamford and Rutland:

"I think it's a fantastic idea for sun lotion to be available in hand sanitiser pumps around town, in Oakham it would be great to see it in the parks where young people and maybe just dotted about. Give it a trial, see how it goes."
