Stamford and Rutland Hospital staff to help patients call loved ones
Visiting is restricted across the North West Anglia NHS Trust
Staff at the NHS Trust covering Stamford and Rutland Hospital will continue to help patients who struggle with tech, to enable them to call friends and family.
Digital connections are the only option at the moment, with visiting restricted due to high Covid cases across the North West Anglia NHS Trust.
The organisation says it has strict processes in place to protect patients, visitors and staff, including to avoid attending if you feel unwell, have a cold, or have had diarrhoea and/or vomiting in the previous 48 hours.
Jo Bennis, the NHS Trust's Chief Nurse, said: "Keeping a loved one company and staying in touch during a hospital stay is really important and we all appreciate the upset that visiting restrictions create. Sadly, our Covid patient numbers remain high and so do community cases across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
"Therefore we can't yet reinstate visiting. We want to assure you that we are constantly reviewing this decision all the time and will lift restrictions as soon as it is safe to do so.
"Please remember to use phones and iPads or tablets to speak to patients via video call. Our ward staff can help facilitate this if the patient doesn't own a device or can't operate one themselves. We are also still running our Letters to Loved Ones initiative and we are really trying to provide regular phone updates to all patient relatives. Thank you for your understanding.”
