Stamford pub opens its doors to people affected by flooding

People in Stamford affected by recent flooding have been seeking refuge at a pub.

The Whistle Stop pub has agreed to operate as a rest centre, and will remain open until 8pm tonight (Thursday 4th).

Parts of South Kesteven are suffering from heavy flooding in the aftermath of Storm Henk.

Warnings remain in place for parts of Stamford, Tallington, Deeping St James, Market Deeping, Greatford, Corby Glen, Creeton, Little Bytham, Baston, and an area to the west of the South Forty Foot Drain.

A number of properties and businesses have been affected.

The Lincolnshire Resilience Forum said: "An incident room has been set up to monitor the impact of the storm and how it might be affecting communities in order to co-ordinate a response."

"The Whistle Stop pub has kindly agreed to operate as a rest centre for residents affected by the flooding. This will remain open till 8pm this evening.

"Hundreds of sandbags have been distributed and more are on order to help residents protect their homes."
