Police stamp down on sale of vapes to children and teenagers in Stamford
The bright colours and flavours are thought to attract young people
Police are stamping down on the sale of vapes to under 18's in Stamford - following news that Reading and Leeds festival has banned them from their venue.
The bright colours and enticing flavours are said to attract those who aren't of legal age to consume nicotine.
There is also concern the lithium batteries are rarely disposed of in an eco-friendly way.
Assistant director of Public Health for Lincolnshire, Andy Fox, says educating children on vaping is 'becoming a bigger issue' than the use of tobacco.
He added: "We have our trading standards team work with schools and a school officer who goes in to schools and does presentations and education, usually around tobacco.
"But schools are now saying they want more content on vaping.
"We have a very effective trading standards team at Lincolnshire County Council.
"They seized in the region of 10,000 non-compliant vapes from 19 premises across Lincolnshire in the year from April to March."
